JUNE 14th 2007... and I went sliding down over a hill on my coat!
Ok... so most of the snow is gone... the bay has broken up but there is still a lot of ice out in the ocean (blocked ice) so I guess it will be awhile before the boat gets here! But that's ok!
Today... I took my grade 9 students for a walk up the hill behind the school. We walked out to Indian Head. I just thought we would walk out and return the same way we went. But one of the boys had another idea. "Miss, why don't be go down over the slant." "My response is "Sure, good idea!" Well at the time I did not realize that we would be going on snow... down over the STEEP hill on snow and my sneakers, believe me, are pretty slippery. (For example last year there was nothing but a sheet of ice from the school to my house. I left the school got on the road and the wind took me and I just went all the way home unable to stop myself. A little scary! ) Alright, anyway, I started to go down over the hill and I knew I would end up on my behind so I took my coat and sat on it and slid all the way down... talk about a great slide. However, when I got down... one of my kids looked at me and said, "Miss, I got flip flops on!" ... "Slide down then.""
Her response... "NO coat!" So there it was her coming down in the snow in flip flops and another student in clogs. So we finally get down and I dry off the girls' feet with my coat and we go on our way when we come across more snow. So me and another student lifted up one of the girls... not thinking about how slippery my sneakers are... well needless to say we almost got her safe and sound to our destination when I slipped, she landed on top of me, and the other girl on top of her. Ok... we all got up from it and laughed and decided it would be a good story for their grade 12 graduation. Anyway, after school I wanted to go on the adventure again and I really wanted to slide down again so I did just that and dragged along Carla and Tara, fellow teachers! We had a lot of fun and took a lot of pictures! Yeah... you have to love life!
Blessings

Rebecca, you know you and anything atheletic is really not a good idea. and the end results once again prove it. however the pictures are certainly woth it . Imagine sliding on the snow on your grandmother's 80th birthday and in just shirtsleeves. Seems as if you had a great time. Can't wait to see you.
Love Mom
